This work is composed as 270*270px image using 11 colors of the EGA color palette. The Enhanced Graphics Adapter (EGA) computer display standard was introduced by IBM in October 1984 and features a 6 bit palette of 64 colors.

The music is a simplified adaption of Miklós Rózsa's 'Palace Music' from his 1961 Soundtrack for Anthony Mann's El Cid. Played on Yamaha YM3812 / OPL2 Sound Chip (Reckless Experimentation Audio YM3812 midi module), the same chip used in early AdLib and Sound Blaster sound cards. Summer time, lots of gardening, an upcoming family trip to Italy by train, reading about the Aeolipile, getting into the Ancient Roman Industrial Revolution scenario rabbit hole and a bunch of 90s 4x strategy game nostalgia synthesized into this piece.

The architecture geometry and the Train were made in Blender 2.79, while characters, objects and details were added as 2D elements. The music was made with a software sampler.

When I was a kid, back in the 90s, for a short time there was a comic book store in town called GHOST. The owner was always wearing a red leather jacket and had a pump action beneath the counter. He had strong expertise in Spider-Man lore. GHOST was one of the places that had a profound impact on me as a kid. Little light and filled with comic books to the brim, the store felt like a place out of a dark 80s movie, a surreal little spacetime anomaly. Sadly, the store vanished as quickly as it materialized.
